DAM were out overnight last week drilling window sampler boreholes and performing Continuous Surface Wave System (CSWS) tests as part of a ground investigation near the concourse at Edinburgh Airport.
The site location proved extremely busy with services and our Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) unit proved invaluable in clearing the positions satisfactorily for intrusive works to begin. At DAM, we have trained all staff to use this as a standard mitigation measure, along with the usual CAT & Genny clearance methods.
The CSWS tests were also included to attempt to glean some deeper information in areas of limited access at the proposed site of a new footbridge. Initial results looked promising, complementing other GI data.
